I worked with a “progressive Christian” guy who took his wife’s name with a hyphen. “Fistname hermaidenname-hislastname”

Weird af that some people use it as a personal blog.

If you use LinkedIn for anything more than a job board or to reach out to specific industry peers you are a weirdo.

Does the wedding registry list what size strap-on the bride is requesting?

Why do we care what another grown man decides to do?

Sounds like he is rather sure of himself, while others... not so much.

I’d take her name if she made more money than me and took care of all my needs.

I went to a wedding once where the new BIL introduced the new couple as Mr. and Mrs. last name of bride

I thought it was hilarious, but I was there as a guest of the bride.

I've noticed that a lot of English soccer players have hyphenated last names. I've always wondered what happens when that person gets married. If Emile Smith-Rowe marries Susie Jones-Carter, do they take one of the 4 last names? Do they go with 4 hyphenated names? Or do they just keep their own names?

I have no problem with this. My last name was just WAY better than my wife's and she wasn't even blood related to anyone who had her last name...

A Chicago guy did that because he was a huge Packers fan

LINK

quote:

Nearly three years later, after a long courtship that saw Holtan-Murphy move to Chicago to be with her after stints in London and New York, the two wed at the Willis Tower last weekend. Now Holtan-Murphy will be taking Marie Packer's last name because, as the couple put it on their wedding registry: "It's the Packers!"

"People who know me knew I'd do something ridiculous Packers-related because I've been so obsessed with the Packers for so long," Holtan-Murphy said in an interview this week, during the couple's honeymoon.

My cousin's son announced at his wedding that he was dropping his father's last name and picking up his mother's maiden name. He was his father's shadow all the years he was growing up. Much closer to him then his siblings. Told his dad of his plans 2 days before the wedding.

There is a wealthy business owner in Port Allen that has a S-I-L that took his wife's last name. First time I met him and he was introduced to me I was like WTH.

IIRC, Monty Python had one of their upper class twit characters names Smith-Smyth-Smith or something similar and this was in the 60s, so it is apparently a thing there.

My wife and her entire family including their pets took my last name. I put my name on everything I own.

Hey, I found a female willing to let me shove my Wang up in there and spray guts anytime I want. Least I can do is take her name.

Knew a guy who took his wife’s name. He was a manly dude, but taking his wife’s last name made him look like a chump.
