2008 ford f150, 130,000 miles, battery light comes on periodically but battery, alternator, and connections test well...recently replaced throttle body however.

Any recs from the OT truck owners as to what the problem might be?

Anything less than a King Ranch 250 is not worth the OT's time.

Get an icepick and punch the tip of it through the battery light.

Problem solved.

What's the battery gauge aka voltmeter doing when this happens? Thats will provide you a clue. If it shows low volts, it could be the alt. If it is dancing and dipping, it may be a bad ground somewhere.
Electrical problems suck and can be difficult to pin down

1. alternator likely needs replacement. the light comes on when the alternator is not charging the system

2. could be wiring/connections

3. if everything is indeed ok, you may just need to reset engine computer

ground, batt, and alt test well...thats why i think the throttle body replacement may be a cause?

throttle body would possibly throw a CEL but probably not a battery warning. I agree that it seems to be a bad ground somewhere, and although the three components you listed check out good, that doesn't mean that there is not an issue especially with the weather heating up. I have had a battery die on my with zero to no warning twice, but since it is occurring when you are driving it would lead me to the alternator.

i was shocked when the alternator tested out well tbh, i was convinced that's what the problem was based on the indications thats why i turned to the OT

are you looking for any other suggestions besides a bad PCM because that's pretty much all thats left in the system since you eliminated everything else.

if it was the battery you would have starting issues

its the alternator, its not putting out enough juice so the light comes on.

the engine draws power from battery when alternator isn't charging right and light comes on when battery gets low.

when truck sits the battery reserve power builds up some, letting it still start ok.

bring the truck to the shop, or the alternator in to an auto store and have it tested.

might also be bad main wire connections to battery or alternator but most likely its just a bad alternator putting out "some" power for idling, but not enough when driving

is that the answer? I honestly wasn't sure and figured i'd get some OT recs before I went to my local friendly autoshop

depends on if you trust your diagnostic abilities. TBH, I don't trust those alternator testing stands at auto parts stores. They don't do a very good job testing the diodes in the alternator and that is often the reason for the light to come on.

i honestly thought it was a bad connection somewhere, but the alternator was my prime suspect, was surprised it appeared to be working so well
