You will spend the rest of your life patting yourself on the back for making this decision.
Good luck.

LSU is a 3.0 GPA and a 22 ACT. ULL is a 2.5 GPA or a 23 ACT.

Neither school has high admission standards, I'm just pointing out the difference. I had plenty of friends who couldn't pull a 22 on the ACT and they all wound up at ULL or USM.

ETA: LSU also requires a 21 on the math portion of the ACT whereas ULL requires a 19. That's what keeps quite a few kids from being accepted to LSU.

Transferring from a school nobody outside your state has heard of to a school everyone is familiar with is generally a wise choice if it doesn't pose much of a financial difference.

You probably just expanded your career mobility, well done.

I made the move over from ULL to LSU after my freshmen year as well. Best decision I have ever made. You will love it! Congrats!

However, seeing my friends have a lot of fun at LSU and getting VERY, VERY bored in Lafayette (there's nothing to do here), it hit me like a brick that I’m ready to settle in the Capital City

Well that seems like a rational and well thought out decision to transfer. Your friends "having more fun" justifying where you get your degree from. With your rational thinking, it sounds like you're perfect for LSU. Soon you'll sing the chorus that LSU=Harvard and that anyone who didn't go there is too dumb to get in.

And you wonder why people say so many ULL students/alums have an inferiority complex when it comes to LSU? Good lord.

Welcome to college. I know some folks who couldn't get into LSU right away and went to BRCC and UL-Lafayette for a year. No shame in that.

Yeah you're right, I was completely off base in saying those things. Where would I get ideas like that?

All of the comments about an improved "college life" experience are true, IMO. It has more to do with LSU than it does ULL. He could be transferring from countless other schools and the same would be true.

Strikes me as an opinion. I've lived in Lafayette for 5 months and I've found plenty of things to do. My "college life" experience isn't suffering simply because I didn't go to LSU. Not everyone wanted to go to LSU and people can actually be happy at other schools.

Of course it's an opinion. And it's one I'd venture to guess most people would agree with. But that does not mean it applies to everyone or that everyone is looking for the same type of college experience.

Outside of talking about college, do you guys honestly think BR is a better place than Lafayette?

Think about this for a second.

Baton Rouge is fricking awful outside of LSU's campus and surrounding areas. I have no doubt that Lafayette is a better town. But for college I would choose LSU over ULL 101% of the time.

I agree.

If the OP waited to turn 21 he would probably change his mind about Laffy. Being under 21 is a pain.
