My 8 year old Trane 4 ton unit turns off with a loud clank

Cools fine. Is the noise from the fan or compressor relay ?

Or inside the scroll type, compressor ?

Is it gonna blow up and send metal shards all over the hood ?

I don't have an answer, but my 4 year old units do the same thing.
