I failed as an owner to get my three min-pins (now only 1 left) to stop the unnecessary barking.
Curious, I'm guessing the 1 remaining was the last one you got? Because when owning something like 3 dogs, and getting them in sequential order, not at the same time, the new learn from the old. Or in your case, didn't. Its part of the pack mentality when it comes to discipline.
Im actually a bit surprised by all that are talking about the "unnecessary barking" (yapping?) with the min-pin breed. Im in the same camp as baseballmind1212, as my family has owned min-pins over the years growing up. Always alert, but trained to not be very vocal. Of course he'd bark once, MAYBE twice when the doorbell rang, but that was more of an acknowledgment than anything. He was letting us know someone was there, not being startled. But you damn well better believe, when given the command "get back", he'd sit his arse beyond the threshold where the foyer started so we could answer the door.
Remember, with time and patience, any dog can be trained. But it takes a lot more with humans.
