Weird that they'd mention AS/400 in there. I mean, they're not looking for a programmer, just someone to use their program, right?

I guess they're just warning you, "you have to use this old-timey green screen crap," but honestly that stuff is far more reliable and easier to deal with than the new stuff.

Thanks, but as previously stated I’m not interested in going back to blue collar type jobs.

The questions you ask cannot be answered by the limited amount of information you have provided about your skills.

I make almost $21 an hr which is more than I’ve ever made at any other employer. I enjoy it because I don’t have a boss hovering over me everyday as I’m onsite at the customer working and don’t answer to anyone there. I have a lot of free time because I can easily finish all of my duties and have plenty of time to spare. I work 10 mins from home and I get an hour lunch so that’s nice. I only have to work 40 hrs per week, 8-5 and no weekends. Before 2018, I’ve never not had to not work overtime or a Saturday, so it’s really nice.

For just a high school diploma with some technical college classes (I'm assuming no Associates), that's actually doing pretty well considering.

I'd take this time to go back to school if you're wanting to stay in an office making more than what you do now. What do you want to do?

Put that Word proficiency up higher. I'd lead with that, actually. During the interview, focus on it as a reason to hire you, no matter what you're asked.

I had never even heard of it before I started this job. It says 1993 at the bottom of the screen and is not user friendly at all. I did manage to learn it rather well so I was hoping it would impress someone

Same here. People come here for advice all the time. Don't think I've ever seen someone post their entire resume on here. I almost thought this was a joke at first.

I don't think I can be of much help to you op. But best of luck to you.

I see those AS/400 systems in industries where uptime and correctness rule above all else: casinos, airlines, logistics companies, etc. Maybe that gives you some idea what kind of industries you might be sniffing around in. IDK.

Well I was hoping the experience would make up for no college degree. I’m going to be honest, I am not ever looking to make 6 figures or get multiple promotions. I just want 40 hrs a week, 9-5 type job that pays decent. I like not having a ton of stress and I’ve seen what the stress does to guys higher up the totem pole who have more responsibilities.

So it’s not necessarily what I want to do, it’s the hours and pay I care more about. Yes, I want to stay away from blue collar type jobs, but when it comes to what kind of position I’d like outside of that, it really doesn’t matter.

I have no idea which type of shop experience you have; but your resume mentions fasteners, so I would call a fastenal franchise and see if they’re hiring outside sales positions. Seems like it may fit your background

Good luck

I’ve checked with them and all they have are part time positions. They are a competitor of my employer.

Why? You are making $21 an hour. Surely you can make more than that in a trade.
