I would assume someone didn't drive from Alaska with a Carmax car. Like I said, there aren't too many Carmax dealerships around. Get the right body style, color, a car that has been sold in the past couple of months, and start driving to people's houses looking. It is actually very fortunate that it still had the Carmax tags on it
One Carmax in LA, one in Jackson, none in Arkansas, two in Bama, 14 in FL, two in Oklahoma, and 14 in TX. They should have some national database of cars sold too.
My thinking behind the rental car is that sometimes people get them instead of driving their personal vehicles from far away. I never tell them I am going out of the city I rented it in.
Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to figure out who it was. A couple of days tops to track the driver down
