Top 10 colleges, high schools for spring break drinking arrests

The following are lists of the top 10 colleges, universities and high schools that has students charged with underage drinking in 2018, according to the Walton and Okaloosa County sheriff’s offices.

Walton County - Miramar Beach / 30Am / Santa Rosa Beach

1. Mississippi State University-12

2. University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)-12

3. St. Xavier High School (Louisville, Kentucky)-9

4. Georgia Southern University-7

5. St. Mary High School (Paducah, Kentucky)-7

6. University of Georgia-6

7. University of Tennessee-6

8. Texas A&M University-6

9. University of North Georgia-5

10. Fairhope High School-5

Okaloosa County - Destin/Ft Walton Beach

1. Louisiana State University–23

2. University of Louisiana at Lafayette–19

3. University of Alabama-11

4. Auburn University–10

5. University of South Carolina–10

6. University of Memphis–7

7. University of Arkansas– 7

8. University of West Georgia–7

9. Jacksonville State University–6

My biggest question would be how they got these numbers. Because if I am a student and the police arrest me I would think this is the last thing I would be telling them.

My best guess is that the police leadership made it SOP to ask that when one of these kids gets arrested. No 19-year-old is going to be brave enough to tell a cop "frick off" when asked where they go to school. I'd imagine they'd give that info up pretty easily while they're in handcuffs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the sheriff's office sends these schools a list of their students who were arrested.

I didn't realize Ft. Walton Beach was not in Walton County.

FWB is in Okaloosa County

Santa Rosa Beach is not in Santa Rosa County but in Walton County.

It's really weird actually.
