Exactly. I have taken to leaving my phone in the car when I run into a store. People actually get annoyed when I miss their call and say I left the phone in the car. Like I am obligated to have the thing with me at all times.

Honestly, if I didn't know you were coming ahead of time, I'm not randomly answering the doorbell for any schmuck who wanders onto my porch. This isn't 1986.
Looks like a lot of people agree.
It's pretty crazy so many people are scared to answer the door.

Some young people say they won’t ring or answer the doorbell because they are far more comfortable announcing an arrival by text message
WTF, are they poor or something? The doorbells rings, my phone does too. Plus I have a camera and speaker built in so I can talk with anyone at the door via my phone....plus I can unlock/open any door in my house remotely.

they send texts because they don't want to wait to get in the door... if you time it properly you walk right inside.

If my friends know I'm coming over, I'm walking in when I get there. I fully expect them to do the same at my house as well.

I'm GenX and I feel the same way. It's cause we're smoking pot in here!

Texts? Door bells?
I still throw pebbles at people's windows to announce my arrival.

There's no way they've never knocked on a door or rang a doorbell before or had someone knock on their door or ring their doorbell before.
I mean this sounds made up.
I used to live with one of my friends and his younger cousin. Younger cousin was born probably around 91 or 92. I walked down the driveway and put a letter in the mailbox, then tilted the flag up. I heard a voice say "Oh, that's what that's for?" and looked up the driveway to see the younger cousin standing in the open garage with a confused look on his face.

Not scared to answer it. Just most anyone who comes to my door these days is someone I expected. If they didn't text me ahead of time, it's usually UPS or some solicitor, and I have better things to do with my time than jump up to answer the door for no goddamn reason.

I only answer for shave and a haircut

Or a police officer trying to serve a warrant.

I hate doorbells because the dogs go fricking insane. And I hate when my dogs go insane.
I also hate doorbells because I would rather not have company.

My dog never barks at anything ever, but ring the doorbell once and he'll bark for 10 minutes straight.
Guess he is a technically a millennial though.

Same. People who ring the doorbell unannounced are typically door to door soliciting some bullshite. No thanks.

Why don't they make a doorbell that texts you?
