I don't want to be surprised with a huge bill,
I was surprised this past winter when those storms rolled through and froze the South. My bill was nearly double for two months. It sucked, but if you're smart with your money and can budget properly, you'll be fine if a bill comes in higher than expected.

I was in an 850 Sq Ft apartment that was sandwiched between 2 floors and only got the sun after 3:00pm. My bill ran about $55/month.
Now I am in a townhouse that is 980 sq ft and my bill runs $117

Yeah, being in a sandwiched apartment helps a ton. A guy I know barely has to run AC and his place stays around 74. I live in my own house so I'm kind of jealous at those electric bill savings.

My bill last month in my 1,500 sq ft house was $79.23.
Keep the AC on 78 and turn stuff off/unplug it when you aren't going to be using it for awhile.
