quote:Because the word for what they're doing is "marriage." We'll use the correct word for what they're doing, and we will be fine.
What's wrong with everyone having civil unions and saving marriage for the church then?

You and those of your persuasion are definitely the ones making a big deal.

Whether or not something should be banned is exactly the issue.
You going to ban dogs from being feline?
They simply cannot be unless you change a definition or two.
Some want to say they are parents to the pets they love. You want to ban that? Could just change the meaning of parent. In fact, unless you do change the meaning they cannot be parents to their pets, even if they are not banned.

You are the ones attempting to change a definition.

So you agree the Webster recently changed a long accepted definition? I was unaware those publishers shared your political view.
The meaning of marrige recently changed. Prior to the change you would have opposed?
LoL

quote:How many times must I tell you? "Changing the definition of marriage" has never been my concern. That's your talking point, not mine. I don't know when or why Webster changed its definition; all I know is what the definition is, which puts me in a perfect spot to correct all of you who accuse the "gay agenda" of currently pushing to change the definition. As we stand currently, it is an undeniable fact that those actively trying to change the definition of marriage are those who would have a marriage ban. You. Not me.

I have never favored nor opposed anything Merriam-Webster has ever published. I haven't made it a habit of crafting political opinions that involve me choosing the dictionary as my enemy. That's what crazy people do. Not me.
