Ultimately, all of the states are leaning the same direction. Not nearly the difference between Republicans and Democrats (especially economically) as they like you to believe.

Based on the chart, I would say it has more to do with the size of the population of each state.

It appears is based off of GDP and population size and leaves politcal leanings out of it.

Biggest suprise for me is Washington state, or better yet good for Kazakhstan. Guess they are counting mail order brides in their gdp.
