I was out of mouth wash today. In the past I have used peroxide when this was the case. Today I used rubbing alcohol. At first it gave a good burning sensation but then it went quickly to a disgusting flavor that reminded me of dry gin. I got drunk on dry gin in the 6th grade and have never gotten over the flavor or taste. While I am sure the rubbing alcohol killed many germs, it left such a bad taste in my mouth that it was not worth it.
