There was a situation on Frenchman St last night between NOPD, Book Store and a Brass Band

So apparnetly the owners of this book store on the corner of Frenchman St didnt want the Brass Bank playing in front of their store so they called the cops....
As you can see in the video......all hell broke loose.

What book store is trying to sell books late at night on Frenchman street. I’m assuming this is later in the evening since it’s pretty dark outside. I understand their rights as a business but realistically you know where your business is located.
It’s like trying to have a catholic bookstore on bourbon street.
The band needs to understand their restrictions as assumedly licensed performers, and respect the business desires to not have them loitering and disturbing their patrons. Being white made them instantly the enemy of the people

I've been hearing lots of complaints from owners in that area. Some guy shows up most nights around 11 pm and raps on a speaker system until about 3 am. That's not freedom of speech, that's a public nuisance.
NOPD needs to handle this shite.

The tension has been building for weeks. Owners feel like there is free reign on Frenchman. I'm sure Kristen Palmer has been hearing a lot of chatter from her constituents.

Criminal element has now infiltrated Frenchman Street as crime is spiking in the area again because a mugged, robbed, or shot tourist isn't likely to come back to testify against the perp in Orleans Parish Criminal Court.
The city needs to allow the NOPD to conduct details at these music establishments before this area becomes the next South Street in Philadelphia.

Too much of the story missing to come to a conclusion. The violent rhetoric from those upset was the most disturbing part.
I did have a friend with a business in that area say there is an extortion hustle where less than talented musicians will stay and play until paid to move on by a business owner. I do not know if this is the case here but it seems odd otherwise.
I would add the owner has lived in the city for over 30 years.

I have said it here before. Crime was at an all time high in the 80's and 90's yet there was almost zero violent crime on Bourbon Street. You know why? Because the NOPD ruled with an iron fist. You got out of line and you got smacked, cuffed and dumped in the OPP. People knew it and the thugs stayed out of the area. The pendulum will swing back when tourists stop coming.
