If people are buying them willingly, of their own choice, then why is the government trying to make people buy more of them and instating more mandates for fuel efficiency? The climate people should be resting on their laurels at this point.

You realize EV owners pay for electricity just like everyone else and that the money you pay for electricity goes to a business that sells electricity and they can use that additional money to produce and deliver more electricity, right?

You realize in CA the demand for electrical vehicles or the government mandate to buy them could outpace the power companies willingness or ability to build enough substations to handle the demand, right?

These are political and corporate problems, not technical or engineering problems.

I don’t know if California adjusted its tax structure, but does California collect any additional taxes on EV’s from EV owners as taxes from gas powered engines declines.

I know it would be hard to tax at home charging, but in addition to the taxes for electricity, EV owners should pay an extra kWH charge equivalent to the gas tax when using a charging station.
