My brother told me some old lady owns it and she is extremely stubborn about doing anything with it to bring it back and also stubborn about selling it. Said she is some annoying redneck who doesn't know what she has.

Shreveport/Bossier used to have a pretty damn good music scene. Don't know what happened to it.

The Strand is a really cool venue and I wish they could get more acts there.
Tipitinas Foundation has a presence in Shreveport and has helped get some better acts to start coming through. I saw Tedeschi Trucks at the Strand last year. Great show.

Municipal Auditorium.

And it makes me question if there is a viable population that supports the arts up in those parts. Yeah?
It's trying to get better with the Arts and actually having some sort of identity. The Strand has decent shows. The Municipal Auditorium just had a major renovation and is hosting some pretty decent acts. The Mudbugs hockey team just started back up at the Hirsch Coliseum. (The mudbugs owners sunk millions into renovating the building. But it's still in the hood.) We actually have 3 micro breweries. Bossier has started the multi-million dollar project to completely overhaul the old downtown area into a outdoor events/shopping area. The Robinson Film Center has Indie and low release films.
We're still no where near on par with things to do and see like NO, BR or DFW. But it's not quite as boring as it used to be. It's still boring though, just not as bad.

Heard about the Tipitina's Foundation bringing some shows there and think Dr. John was one.
I know they have a Co-op down there and there may even be plans for a smaller venue from what I've heard from friends in Shrevey-Boss.

The real gem of Shreveport however is the Municipal Auditorium. I'm so glad they remodeled it so that it can host big time events now.
Correct. The Municipal is a much better venue, and love the resurgence. I used to go watch boxing matches with my dad there when I was a kid in the 80's.
The Strand has such a small stage and weird setup backstage (multiple floor dressing rooms) that the arts in Shreveport never use it. The Riverview Theater (Civic Theater) has a much better setup and a bigger stage area - so that is where the Ballet and Symphony operate every year, multiple times.
The Strand is a nice landmark that should be preserved and is great for other attractions.

Can anyone tell me who owns the rights to the term/trademark "Louisiana Hayride", and what is currently being done w/ it?
I volunteer with the tourist bureau and give downtown, Municipal and cemetery tours. Haunted and regular themes. I've been there during some ghost investigations also. I'm in love with that building.

It's a really cool building to see shows in- There's usually 1 show every year that I buy tickets for. The Shape of Shreveport series has done both of their premier's there, and the place is almost electric when it's full. The municipal is equally as cool to me, and having been 'behind the scenes on haunted tours, has seen a lot of Shreveport's history. Bob Dylan is coming to Municipal in October and Gavin DeGraw is coming in November. The Municipal is in the middle of a resurgence, for 2 reasons:
1) the same company that manages the CenturyLink Center is also managing the Municipal, so they can now bring musical acts to Shreveport to a 10,000 seat venue or a 4-5,000 seat venue, and
2) a lot of musicians, like Jack White, want to come play the same stage that Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix and many others played before they made it big. There's a TON of musical history in that building.

I don't know about that, Dallas is notorious for the huge amount of $30,000 millionaires living here.
I think all those guys left a decade ago. $40K millionaires now considered the basement.

I am going to see Dylan. First wrestling I ever saw live was at the municipal auditorium. Kerry Von Erich vs. Chris Adams.

Speaking of Shreveport wrestling, is the Irish McNeil Boy's Club (where they would film Mid-South TV) still around?

Everything north of Opelousas is Arkansas.
