The Good Schools Excuse, are your "likes", coincidentally, undesirables free?

Do you pay $6-22/beer, because the beer is that good, or is it that you don't have to worry about rubbing elbows with a poor?

Do you shop at Whole foods for the gourmet appeal, or is it that you don't want to have to worry about touching the same fruit as a Walmartian?

Are your tastes "coincidentally" the opposite of the people you would not want to be your neighbors or your children's friends in school?

Do people who show strong correlation to this trend know that they are doing this, or are they just really adept at fooling themselves?

I definitely shop at Target so I don't have to deal with the riff-raff at Wal-Mart.

Walking in to Wal-Mart feels like an entirely different world.

If the OT was just a little more exclusive, I wouldn't have to read this.

I send my kids to Catholic school partially for a better peer group and better, more invested parents of those peers.

I shop at Wal-Mart as well as other places.

I do pay for good beer. There are beers considerably better than Bud.

NEWS FLASH:

Living in an area where more people has money is better than not.

not necessarily the better area. This thought was inspired by a trip to the Radio Bar on Government, where you see a bunch of eclectic hipsters in the middle of a bar in a not so nice area.

Friend drags me to this place, to pay a premium for beer, where I meet this yoga instructor who's new to the area, and starts talking about some cool local restaurants she's been to in the area.

And I'm thinking, my friend(liberal), and she(liberal), who both live in questionable areas due to income limits(sub-40k, I'd assume)....just happen to both like places that you'd never find a Pontiac parked in front of with a pine tree hanging from the rear-view.

These people are self-professed liberal, live check to check, yet pay a premium to go to places. Why waste the money, and why do your tastes seem to mask the underlying motive of the "Good Schools" conservatives.

Just seems a bit hypocritical.

No, my "good school" was 30% black. Plenty of black people shop at my whole foods because they take WIC. I live in a mixed neighborhood. Go f&%k yourself you racist POS.

Oh, and the only reason any guy pays $6-$22 for a beer is because either:
A. it's some super expensive, rare craft beer
B. Hot white girls frequent that establishment in force
C. They want to feel like a big shot

I shop at Walmart on occasion and Winn Dixie often.

My kids go to private school.

Why that place in particular? What makes them want to go there "in force"? We went to City Pork and there where maybe 4 guys(waitstaff not included), and at least 15 girls. For $20 sandwiches?

That my friend, is failure to recognize and live within one's means. If they spend, say, $50-75 per weekend on going out and stuff. That is 200-300 per month they could be saving to better their station in life. It is short sided. Just because you CAN afford premium doesn't mean it is a good idea.

They pay more for the things that they value more, i.e. the "good things in life". It's not wasting money to them.
