I've read a ton of different theories but a sudden and tremendous avalanche always seemed most logical.

But logic doesn't always equal truth.

This all happened in one night within a few hours...i doubt cannibalism kicked in that quickly

Heard about this on C2C about a year ago. GN was interviewing an author who wrote about this incident. I think the book is called The Mountain of the Dead.

yes, it's a strange story, with no witnesses, and that is some outback type territory, who knows?

An animal probably ate the tongue and the eyes. Soft, easy tissue for an animal like a fox to get at.

It was...the frost men.

Those of the lands beyond winter, cruel titans of the unending white come to claim those that dared tread into their domain...

Or some shite like that

I have read reports stating the tongue was cut out not ripped out like a wild animal would likely have done

Seems there would have been evidence of a major avalanche. Six died of hypothermia, so I think something else happened.

Autopsy showed her stomach had a large amount of blood in it, suggesting she was alive when the tongue came out.

Another thing, a couple of them mutilated their hands trying to climb a tree. Frantically trying to climb a tree to the point that you jack up your hands is a "trying to get away from something" move.

Forensic tests later confirmed that traces of skin were found embedded in the bark, indicating that the pair had frantically attempted to climb the tree, snapping off branches until their hands were mass of pulpy flesh.

I had an instructor that was a WWII vet that had to unexpectedly depart a B-24, the chute wouldn't open and he clawed though that bag until it did. Basically down to the first knuckle joint.

It said none of them had any external wounds or even scratches.

The ones that had traumatic internal injuries had no associated external injuries.

I think they attempted to make a movie about it. I did a research project on it. It is pretty bizarre but most likely they just freaked out from hypothermia
