I can either have a stuffy nose and congested cough, or take a Mucinex and shite straight water until noon.

Butt pee it is...

What? Sorry about your weak constitution.

Clinical trials involving Mucinex (guaifenesin) have reported diarrhea as a possible side effect, but again, it appears to be relatively uncommon. In one clinical trial, involving 552 people, only 3 reported diarrhea as a side effect.

Try this. It works for any kind of congestion:

Barbara Oneils Flu Bomb Recipe

Flu Bomb:
1 Garlic Clove Crushed
1/4 tsp Fresh Ginger Finely Grated
1 Drop of Oregano, Eucalyptus, or Tea Tree Food Grade Oil
(I use Eucalyptus)
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1 Lemon Juiced
1 TBsp Raw Local and Unfiltered Honey
1/2 C of Hot Water

Mix all ingredients together in a cup and immediately drink all at once.

Its legit. Doesn't work for everybody, but works for me, Mucinex dries me out so bad, the discomfort is unbearable. I prefer the congestion.

Or you could just ride it out and let your body handle it. I never take meds unless I am running fever. I rarely get sick.

Mucinex

The wonder of marketing and manipulating the FDA.

Guaifenesin has been around since the 1930s. Originally approved by the FDA in 1952. Whether intentional or not, I can't say but Adams Respiratory managed to gain sole control of the time-released market, hence Mucinex cornoring the market despite not being the first guys out there by any stretch.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guaifenesin
quote:

In the US, guaifenesin was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1952. Although previously deemed "Generally Regarded as Safe" in its original approval, the drug received a New Drug Application for the extended-release version, which received approval on 12 July 2002. Because of this, the FDA then issued letters to other manufacturers of timed-release guaifenesin to stop marketing their unapproved versions, leaving Adams Respiratory Therapeutics in control of the market. In 2007, Adams was acquired by Reckitt Benckiser. The drug is now sold over-the-counter by many companies, alone and in combination.

Take pseudoephedrine HCl and claritin and see if that gets rid of some of your congestion

Man, I aint got no use for medicine that doesn't do anything but make you feel better. If not in real pain , are you REALLY gaining anything?

You feel better, but you aren't better. What's the point? Just deal with the suckiness.
