Coming from nearly 25 years of being with someone, and after the shock, trauma, and grief subside, I can say there are some advantages to truly being single.

I can go out with whoever I want whenever I want, and there is no judgment. And no drama. I can do what I like when I like. I have been able to find my own identity again, plus I'm genuinely happier.

It wasn't always that way. But I did read on here quite a few times from several different posters that time does make things better. I used to scoff at that when going through it, but I found that these posters were absolutely right.

If you are still somewhat young and healthy being single/alone can be great

I just imagine it would suck when you get older and start having more health issues

being single is actually pretty cool if you're not insecure. Tons of friends and nobody to answer to.

It can, but with work, kids (50 %), yard work, caring for elderly parents, etc., having some alone time at this point in my life isn't a negative. It actually allows me to reflect on my life and give thanks for what I have.

My wife passed away after 26 years of marriage. I immediately thought, what am I going to do being by myself. First couple/three years I went through five or six women. My thinking slowly started to change, about trying to not being alone. Started dating this woman 5 years after my loss, sex was great, she loved my family, had a good career, etc… we got married 2 years later. After marriage, she changes. I think how great those first three or four years were just dating different women. I find myself asking, why did you get married again?

maybe but this seems like a poor reason to stay partnered up when young so you hopefully have someone to either take care of or have them take care of you.

I'm hoping I just drop dead of a heart attack early enough to avoid all the sick shite.

I probably should start smoking.

Yeeeah, everything is more awesomer, well...except for the crippling desperation of loneliness slowly creeping up from time to time.

If someone has money, looks, and lives in a major city...being single is significantly better than being tied down.

I don't think married friends realize how fricking awesome it is

You have to program against this, and force yourself into open space with others on the regular.

And also not run towards replacement women, on apps, especially.

There is a risk to falling down both holes, and we don't want anyone ending up with self-inflicted holes as a result.
