Does feral mean just not having an owner? My outside cat is a stray who found her way here as a baby and hasn't left since. Sleeps in the carport, eats the food I give her.. and occasionally isn't around but that is pretty much never. Once in a blue moon.

Nope.

Stray is domestic and loose with no way of finding the owner. Ferel is wild. Very distinct difference.

feral dogs and cats are killed all the time because they are a nuance. but what you don't know or see doesn't hurt you. oh and there's lots of feral hogs killed all the time too.

Yeah you don't tell me man I grew up in a rural wooded area. Feral dogs and cats have never bothered me and I've always found the people that kill them are just the type that like killing things.

And yes, wild dogs also need to be put down.

Me human. Me own the earth. Other species cannot live freely here.

Might as well go after the owls and birds and squirrels while you're at it.

Killing a cat for fun and getting enjoyment out of it = serial killer psycho.

you realize the cost of taming and upkeep for those wild dogs?

not to mention that those wild dogs are a threat to people and other animals. frick em

that cat is domesticated and almost assuredly wandered to your house from another house without much gap in between

feral cats are not domesticated and would not do that stuff in your house. i think they're somewhat useful in the country if you want to do population control on snakes, but they're not going to chill in your house. they'll eat your food if you let them and come and go, but they're not going to cuddle you

You've never dealt with 3 or 4 wild dogs harrassing cows/calves or deer? Or a ferel cat killing chickens?

They are a problem and need to go.

Exactly. All the cats I've ever had were free range. They go in and out my house as they please.

see this is the problem. some of you people need to get out of your sheltered life and try to take care of a farm with livestock sometime. it'll open your eyes to the real world

Exactly feral cats aren't going to wonder into anybody's home. They are very cautious of people and for good reason obviously.

They'll come and eat your pets food but only if your cat can't fend them off. I've always had a tomcat of my own who would chase away in other cat or dog that wasn't welcome.

I just started to list out all of the animals either in my direct possession (indoor only---3) and all of the animals we feed outside--but then I realized the list is long. And I look batshit.

I need to live on a farm because I have a cat that lives in my carport?

You really have to connect those dots for me, broseph.
