It’s $30, just give it a shot and see what happens.

it's $7. you got ripped off son.

also in Texas, if you take it in and fail, they'll take your $7 and then give you a provisional piece of paper saying you tried to get it inspected until you get it fixed. then you come back with it fixed and they'll give you the approved paperwork.

A brake tag/inspection sticker is a sticker of validation certifying that your vehicle has been inspected and is up to code with all traffic and manufacturing laws

After you pass the inspection, ask if there’s a local place where you can go get your physical sticker. There’s a Kroger grocery store near me that prints the sticker for you. You wait about an hour after the inspection, pay your fee at Kroger or wherever, and get the sticker.

Why? I just got y renewal letter in the mail and it said once I get the inspection I can do the rest online or go to the Tax office. After spending 2 hours at the Tax office on Tuesday I don't know why anyone would chose to go that route

you can do this and receive the sticker in the mail provided your current sticker hasn't expired, or you can go to Kroger, or numerous other places, after you get the inspection and get it instantly

They don't exist in Texas anymore. You get the inspection and they enter that you passed into a database. You can't get your state registration sticker unless you have passed inspection.

Why?

Assuming you passed the inspection, if you send in the forms and payment to the Assessor’s office, physically or online, you need to wait for them to mail you your sticker. You have to wait and pin your hopes on the USPS to get the sticker to you timely. A trip to the Assessor’s office in person can be like going to the DMV. Or you can go to the Customer Service desk at the grocery store and they’ll give it to you immediately.

Go to a quick lube type of place very early on a Saturday morning. Try to be first or second in line. Other cars will start stacking up and the inspector will worry more about getting the inspection done quickly than getting it done thoroughly. If you can pick the sticker up same day, wait a bit and then pay and get your sticker and be done with it.

Depends on the county. As far as i know gas cap being correctly sealed is only checked in the counties that require emissions testing.
I've lived in both...Hays and Brazos don't require. Montgomery, Harris, Travis do. That's the only ones I know
