For those saying that an adult "had" to have taught them to do this, that's a bunch of bunk. One of them could have seen their parents doing it. Or seen it on TV, the internet. Many ways it could have been seen. To think an adult had to one on one showed them how to do it is short sighted.
You do realize all those things you listed are things that any responsible adult would shield a 5 year old from, right? The only way a 5 year old is exposed to any of those things is either willful perversion of an adult or a failure to shield them from things they should not be exposed to. But even that is besides the point. The point being made was that a 5 year old is not going to just look at their privates then the privates of another kid of the opposite sex and suddenly have an epiphany of how they go together.

For those of you with kids or grandkids at or above the second grade...Common Core has already started "educating" your kids on sex.

Absolutely. Someone dropped the ball. But someone failing to shield them is completely different than:

Some sick bastard showed one or both of these kids how to do this.

Yes. And a more horrific option would be that an adult pedophile physically showed them how to do it, which was implied over and over.
Other options would be that they were poorly supervised, and learned via other means. Ultimately, still sad and whoever did not supervise them should be punished. But comparing that to willfully being shown how to perform by a pedophile? Come on.

Kids that age are aware of differences and they each know that boys have a penis and girls have a vagina. Didn't any of you see Kindergarten Cop???

its actually quite common for kids to play doctor with opposite sex when they are young. not that every kid does it, but they role play in all sorts of ways and dont always know that sort of curiosity is not socially condoned.

I agree. I don't know the exact details on this story, but blaming some sick bastard for showing them exactly what to do seems over the top.

Well we (thankfully) don't know the details of exactly what they were doing in the bathroom. If they were just "going through the motions", chances are one or both of them had, as you said, seen something they should not like walking in on mom & dad for example. But if they were actually having intercourse I'd say chances are someone had to actually show them how to do it.

It's very common for kids who are molested to in turn carry out sexual acts on other kids. This is especially true with younger victims who stand a good chance of not even realizing that what they are doing (and is being done to them)is wrong. It's common for them to mistakenly think it's a "game" that feels good because that's what their abuser told them. This is another reason why many people who hear stories about these two kids immediately think one or both have been abused.

Well, the article says they were found naked, and said they were "having sex". And throughout the article, they put "having sex" in quotes. I'm not sure if 5 year olds are physically capable of completing the act of intercourse. But from my reading of the article, not sure that anyone actually got in there and determined if penetration was taking place.
It could very well be that one or both has been molested before. My point was that it's just as possible that they were acting out something they've seen. At home, or on TV, or on a computer.
Whatever it was, very sad. However, I don't think we should assume that some sick bastard showed them how to do this.

But it cannot be discounted either. Like I said, it's very common for kids who have been or are being molested to in turn do the same sexual acts with other kids that their abuser is doing or did to them.

No, what you said was:
quote:
Some sick bastard showed one or both of these kids how to do this.
quote:
But bottom line is somewhere in all this story there is an adult responsible for teaching one or both of these little ones how to do have sex, if they actually were having sex. How some animal could do this to a 5 year old.....

No, I saw that. You said that after your initial statements were made that someone sick person had to have taught this to them, and other alternatives were offered. As long as you get the point that it's not a foregone conclusion from the article that someone had to have physically taught them this.
