I disagree.

The $15 wage isn't going to necessarily be appealing to someone that's making the same working a desk job.

I sure as hell wouldn't trade my job for the same pay to work in retail or fast food. At the end of the day, if everyone is paying $15+ then you're going to have people still strive to work at the more appealing jobs (i.e., not serving the general public).

There will always be a place in our society for the poorer people to keep stuffing grease burgers down our throats and selling our wives shitty bath mats.

Perhaps, but they've been saying machine will replace man since the industrial revolution. Granted we're much more technologically advanced now, but I'll believe the complete eradication of the unskilled worker when I see it.

To each their own. But to have a product or item delivered to my house, usually within 48 hours for less than what I can find it locally, just appeals to me. And if I don't like it, I log back in, return a return slip and they'll pick it right back up from me. At no additional cost. Call me crazy, but as soon as more people find out about this, it's going to really hurt big box retail stores.
This is a very short term way of thinking about retail.

eCommerce (i.e. primarily Amazon in the US) is in a growth stage. Competitors are vying for market share; profits be damned. Therefore, companies are running red via free returns, 2day/instant shipping, etc.

Eventually, when ecommerce matures and growth stops, these companies will have to turn profitable to make it long term. This means charging more for items that people currently see as perks, less free returns/keeping wrong product, etc.

So while it is nice right now, it'll be different in the future. Once everyone has 2day (or instant) shipping and free returns, it'll turn into a profitability game. My opinion anyway. Will be interesting to see how much Prime rates go up once Amazon needs to start making a profit.

Target is not super expensive and have a better quality of product compared to Wal Mart.

I mean sure, if we're comparing to Walmart...

Target has junk that is only marginally better than the junk at Walmart. If I'm going to be buying junk, I'm going to buy the cheaper junk.

Good thing I don't shop at that shite hole.
I don't know. The MILF quality is pretty good at the Millerville Target. Not Whole Foods quality but damn better than any Walmart anywhere.

I was thinking the same thing. What if you were an assistant manager at $13 and now every new slapdick is making close to what you had to work hard for?

Yep. No chance they raise the pay rates for these positions enough to justify taking a manager position instead of one of these "entry-rate" positions.

Where is the money going to come from for the raises? One of two things will happen ... cost of goods will rise, which means the customer will pay for it or quality will go down and Target will soon become Wal-Mart.

Or the raises will reduce turnover which lowers related costs. Additionally, longer retention should result in more experienced employees, which leads to greater productivity, while allowing Target to be able to let less productive employees go.

Also, workers that are happier due to higher wages may provide better service to customers. I know since Walmart raised their wages (was it last year?), I've seen a marked improvement in the friendliness of their employees, as well as how helpful they are. I've certainly gone there a few more times than I normally would have as a result.
