I'm also as healthy as an ox, other than work stress. Have ~360 sick leave hours saved up. I'm scared of using them for fear I come down with something that I'll need to be out for for a while like ebola.

3 months in I'm not using sick while everyone else takes personal. Use the vacation, and if you want to play games with sick time do it a different day.

Not that unusual. We get PL time to use for sick and vacation. All one bank. We also have ELB(extended leave bank). You use that for FMLA aproved stuff. I have 280 hours in that. Saving it up for maternity leave.

Ah, I work for the DoD. We have a bank for annual leave for vacation and time off, separate from sick leave. I have about 150 hours in that.

I've taken maybe 4 sick days in 3 1/2 years, I think I was only charged for 2 of those days. Oh well.

I max out at 480 sick hours every year...they deduct 48 hours when they cut the bonus check, then I build right back to 480 in about 3 months. Can't take any sick hours with you when you leave the company, but you're vacation balance is cut in a lump sum when you leave...keep mine above 300 hours all the time...just in case.

I've had to use PL time to cover shifts when we were low census and our shifts were cancelled. Usually use it for that and sick days (you get sick often when you work with sick kids). I seldom use it for actual vacation because I can take off 8 days at a time whenever I want (only work 3 12s....work sun, mon, tues and then following thurs, fri, sat.....gives you 8 days off in between)

frick that, it's your time off. Use it if you want to. I lose my sick time at the end of the year so I'm using it for Christmas time

What's the difference? if you run out of one in the year they just use the other so why does it matter how it is classified? Not including the arguement for rollover accumulation.
