After a long night last night, my wife and I settled down and came to the understanding that it was all a misunderstanding.

With that whole ordeal in the past, we have a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona to look forward to for about 5 days over the labor day weekend. Our hobbies include hiking, boating, we like to go to the lake and chill out and read a book or two, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, we love the outdoors. My wife also loves margaritas, so we're looking for any of the top rated bars that sell the best margaritas. We will be bringing our dog as well. I appreciate any advice, I know there are a few Arizona experts on this board who could plan my whole trip for me.

You realize that Arizona is a desert right?

Stay at the Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale. Badass resort we stayed at last month on our vacation to Phoenix. Tons of hiking and a bunch of lakes close to Mesa. Hit up a Dbacks game if they are in town also. Bring golf clubs if you golf.

Spend one day to drive up through Jerome, Sedona, and on up to the Grand Canyon.

Spend another day in the opposite direction in Tombstone.

If you want to drink margaritas with your dogs go to Loco Patrons patio.

There are several man-made reservoirs around the Phoenix area. Have to put that Colorado River water somewhere.

There are 2 very large lakes within a 30 minute drive from anywhere in Scottsdale

I was busting your balls more than anything; AZ does have a few lakes but 'lake' & 'desert' are usually mutually exclusive .

Edit: I was stationed in AZ for 8+ yrs

You are going to love it. Tons of nice restaurants around there too. Everything around Phoenix seemed to be a 20-30 minute drive max. Very easy area to get around in.

I loved the Hyatt when I went 6 or 7 years ago, but it was a bit too cold for those awesome pools. Olde Town Tortilla Factory is fun if you can get a group in there.

Urban Hiking Phoenix

It is awesome to watch the sunrise or sunset over the whole Phoenix valley from Squaw Peak or Camelback. Even cooler if you go at night and see the urban lights.

Bartlett Lake

Friend got his scuba certification at Bartlett and loved it. Lots of paddle board rentals for the lake and kayaking

Anything in Old Town should be solid. Hi-Fi is one of the new trendy bars put out by the Corieris. I wouldn't be a regular there but it is very "Scottsdale" for someone in for the week to check out

My wife is the one who can't stop talking about it and how's she so excited. She's a little upset that we won't have our jeep with us though, it would've been perfect use for out west.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm sure it'll be a good time. I was hoping to get a woman's perspective so I could maybe surprise my wife with something.
