didn't see any ice on the road this morning driving down 171

Yesterday I drove down 171 and due to it having traffic it wasn't very bad but as soon as I turned down a rural road that had no traffic my truck started to slide. Traffic will melt ice quick so 171 isn't even the most dangerous in this situation.

The ice is there and you don't see it. That's the dangerous part of icy conditions. If you're not trolling, then you're not too bright.

are you telling me you have been less pissed if they cancelled school last night?
seems like if you can pull off closing I-10 on short notice...school the next morning wouldn't be too hard

Drove this morning to work.....

Highway 90 to I-10 onramp overpass still closed

210 still closed.

This was all at 8am.

Imagine the clusterfrick the regular amount of people were on the roads today with 210 closed?

There is your answer! I used to share a similar opinion, but having your own will change it.

yeah exctly

hell downtown, i'd say 75% of the roads are 100% ok without a doubt...but you hit pujo street and you're fricked...or broad...or lakeshore. and this is the most urban area of the parish

i can only imagine trying to drive kids to Iowa or some of those schools in BFE west of the lake

I'm not doing shite today. Not fighting all of that. I had people working in it last Friday so I had to make my rounds to check on them and I was almost hit twice by people sliding around. Not risking it again.

I only left my house yesterday in an attempt to get to my sister to bring her some gas for her generator in case she lost power but like I said the less traveled roads were too dangerous so I had to turn around.

that's why I'm at work.

But my kids are at home with my wife. Schools close = daycare closed.

You don't see me making it out to be a big deal.

The worst part are the bridges over creeks down those back roads. The ice is thick on them and will take a lot to melt them.
