Something is right but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

When you have a small homogenous population that values hard work and shares the same cultural ideas, this stuff works.

No longer homogenous, Sweden is now the second most ethnically diverse nation in the western world.

It's already been stated about the homogenous society.... But those in bold have fewer people in combined national population (27.2mm) than metro NYC and LA combined (32.4mm). ...the difference (5.2mm)in those four countries and NYC/LA is about the size of metro phoenix (5mm) and that is 10th on list for US cities.

All the countries on the best list combined (205mm) don't come to 2/3rds of the total US Pop (331mm) India and China could of course make the same argument about size vs the US, but for being a large diverse population ...USA

Why is listing a group of mostly European nations as best places to live somehow racist? The only thing that is racist about it would be the mistaken notion that those nations are somehow ethnically homogenous...they are not. In fact they are among the most ethnically diverse nations in the western world. I understand that a LOT of Americans think the only reason Europe is a better place to live than the US is because there are no minorities in Europe to speak of but I also know for a fact, and the data is relatively available, that most of Europe is about as ethnically diverse as the United States and some of Europe is more so...

Sweden is the second most ethnically diverse nation in the western world, just slightly behind Canada. They are no more homogenous than the US is...

Hugely diverse ethnically. What is believed to be true today in Sweden and most of Europe was true 30-50 years ago, just the opposite is true today. Most of Europe is more ethnically diverse than the US.

List is a lie if this is number three, or even in top 10.

Correct.

They're worse off than the US for housing affordability.

Not free on the back end of course but no out of pocket. I think people would feel different, as I'm sure they do, knowing that everyone is putting something into it. We look at that with great distaste because if implemented here we know damn well not everyone is paying into the benefits they are receiving. It would also be easier for them to cap healthcare costs as healthcare entities can't jack up prices knowing insurance will cover it.

We can all agree that healthcare costs are high now and they keep increasing every year. You'd be surprised at some point if we aren't paying similar healthcare "tax" and we would still have astronomical out of pockets on top of it.

I'm speaking from experience as I have a lot of health issues and have been with many different insurance plans over the years. I've heard from so many people and that includes myself sticking with certain companies despite lesser pay because the health insurance was real good and affordable. Imagine how much flexibility in the labor market if your insurance wasn't tied to your company directly?

They do not have it either...in fact without US taxpayers footing the bill for global security Europe, particularly that part of Europe bordering Russia, would be living like third world nations or would have been enslaved by Russia 80 years ago. Thats the dirty little secret they don't talk about and most Americans dismiss it as "they do not suffer from diversity so of course they are successful". Neither is true...they are as diverse ethnically as the US, they have poor people and slackers and ne-er do wells....what they do not have is a fricking military budget which is bigger than the next 70 or so nations combined, with the exception of China, who are ALL "allies" of the United States. Americans make up 4.3% of the world's population yet we foot the bill for nearly 40% of the world's defense spending. Without our doing this there would be no market for anything produced in Europe because there would be no where to sell it and no investment in producing it because it would be too damned risky.

It is easy to pretend that the diversity of the United States is to blame for the US not being at the top of lists of best places to live...it is also dim witted and potentiall hateful. The truth is Americans are parents and the rest of the world is made up of surely teenagers living off our largesse. All Americans...regardless of the ethnicity or the cultural diversity among us facilitates world peace and global trade by paying for nearly ALL of the world's meaningful security measures...yet way too many of us are quick to blame diversity for our woes without ever mentioning the fact that the rest of the world is living off our diverse teat.

The truly galling thing is NO politician or leader on either side will say this outloud. Donald Trump, idiot that he is, did mention it quietly and the world went beserk because they know it is absolutely the truth.

This whole list is based upon how much shite is "free" with zero regard for the level of taxation required.

It’s like they actually get something for all the taxes they pay?! Compared to us, who still pay high taxes but don’t get shite?! Poor infrastructure, shity law enforcement, crappy public services in general. Glad we in the US don’t pay ALL those taxes.

Not what you meant for certain because it is obvious you are deluded into thinking those nations are comprised only of white people when in fact most are more diverse than the US and none are significantly less diverse than the US. What they do, however, all have in common is this....they foot almost none of the cost of security that keeps them from being enslaved by some stronger nation themselves....they rely on culturally diverse America to foot that bill and do the actual work to keep them sovereign. It is such an insult to Americans for some Americans to be so blinded by their racial hatred than they will blame racial diversity for the US lagging behind nations that spend NO money keeping the wolf away from their door and instead rely on the US, in all of its diversity, to pay the bill AND do the work.

This. Here, it would line the pockets of politicians and special interest groups. And sent to foreign countries. If our gov was responsible and it’s citizens and everyone had to pay / contribute then it could be a different story.

That's a shame. In 10 years or so they will be off this list.
