Damn, man. See, I'm struggling right now and it's been going on for awhile. I have two sons, 23 and 17. My older son is working on a Master's with plans to get his doctorate. My younger son will likely get into Weld inspection/QC work like me.

I am trying my best to raise good young men that are kind and compassionate. Responsible. I want them to be better men than me. I've drilled into them the need to to treat all people with respect. The problem I am having is that I'm starting to have issues with what many in society would label as racist thoughts. Thing is, it's for the faceless rabble that I don't know. All the black folk I know and associate with are good people (as I try not to associate with shitheads of any race). But... damn if that aforementioned "faceless rabble" isn't getting under my skin. I suspect it's a byproduct of finding a million new things a day that make me a supposed racist.

That accusation in and of itself, to me, foments more racism every day.

My real worry is that my kids are buying into it in the name of compassion. I can't believe that, in 2017, I see a video like this and have to tell them the same sort of thing that many blacks told their sons in times past. "No, son. These people are not better than you because of the skin you were born in."
