Heading up to Memphis from BR and want to cut the trip in half and play some golf around the Jackson area.

What is the best course in the area? Or, are there any options to consider in between Jackson and Memphis? TIA.

Lefleur's Bluff State Park. ( )

But seriously, public courses you can get on no problem:
Call ahead. I could be wrong on these being public.

Refuge (bring plenty of golf balls)
Canton Country Club
Live Oaks
I think Lake Caroline is semi public
Patrick Farms (my favorite of the public ones)

Private and need to know somebody:
CCJ
Annandale
Reunion
Deerfield

Dancing Rabbit in Pearl River/Philadelphia Ms is N. East of Jackson and not much out of the way on a trip to Memphis.

The award-winning Dancing Rabbit Golf Club is the crown jewel of Pearl River Resort, and the masterpiece of renowned designers, Tom Fazio, and PGA great, Jerry Pate. Featuring two championship golf courses, The Azaleas and The Oaks, Dancing Rabbit is consistently listed among Golf Magazine's "Top 100 Courses You Can Play," Golfweek Magazine's "Best Resort Courses," and Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Courses."

Edited to change my location screw up

Great place to stay/play if going to the Miss. State game in Starkville. Have done it several times and enjoyed it. The course is usually crowded with LSU fans.

Jackson Municipal (Sonny Guy) on Woodrow Wilson out in the hood by Hawkins Field. Makes you appreciate how deer feel out in the middle of a food plot during hunting season.

Is it in Philadelphia or on the Reservation? I can't remember. Either way, nice place

Just starting to get into golf, I played this course due to it being cheap. I might have played my best round ever, but also lost more balls than ever before. It's sad when you hit straight down the fairway and lose the ball due to the grass

Castlewood is pretty good...I think it's in Brandon or flowood. Or in between. It's nice. A friend of mine from college lives in there.
