girls do better if told it's a test

The research, in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, showed that boys outscored girls on reading tests if they were told the tests were a game. But boys scored significantly lower than girls when told the tests were assessments of their reading skills.

Yet at the same time, we are constantly fed shite that girls and boys are equal. That there are no differences and you can choose this or that and blah dee blah dee frickin blah.
Whatever happened to it being okay to be different, and better at different things? Boys and girls are wired differently! It's how we are made! And it's okay!

I rarely speak for an entire group of people but here it goes. On behalf of all teachers everywhere, No shite!
One of the reasons for the reading gap between boys and girls is the overwhelming amount of female teachers in the lower grades. We need more men being active in early literacy grades to help our boys become engaged in reading.

Meh, let's see who wins important things like arm wrestling competitions. Lincoln Hawk never read no books

not shocking. males have evolved to be more competitive and females have evolved to be more task oriented
our past educational systems were built around "male" traits and males had an advantage. since the 80s, the system has skewed the other way and females now dominate education. hopefully one day we find a middle ground to not discriminate against either sex

Competitive people do better when told it's a competition and insecure people do better when they are afraid of looking inferior to others?

How did Caitlyn Jenner do on the test?

Just more proof that women belong in the kitchen and bedroom performing daily ahem, duties.

Women can't be reduced to just that. We are simply naturally wired to different capabilities, and how things are presented is one of the things that affects that.
If you want to bar girls from education and anything other than being a brood sow I'm sure you would fit right in with the Muzzies in the Middle East.

i agree. this just doesn't jive with the progressive mindset
why? because once you establish true differences in sex, that CAN lead to a slippery slope. forced equality really does require tabula rasa, so that is a major part of the progressive philosophy. it creates a self fulfilling prophecy, b/c they base so much of their belief system on socialization to avoid biological differences. due to this, they see the female-oriented system as neutral (as it rejects the male-dominated culture they feel is terrible and the source of oppression), and since females are not exceeding, they proclaim "see? it's not that men are better. they just kept women down and now that it's neutral, women are emerging"
it's a really complex issue that 99.9% of people are not capable of discussing

I've never really thought about it, but I'm not surprised. Males have to compete for survival and reproduction, and it's not just human males either. Competition is a part of what makes a male a male.

Can you expand on this?

agree. Make no bones about it , masculinity is under attack and has been for years. The education system is ground zero for the attack and feminism is the WMD being used. The good news is that people seem to be awakening to what is going on , and it appears that feminism is starting to eat itself.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact education used to be a privilege, not a right. Privileges are fought for, rights are taken for granted.
