If you didn't have flood insurance and flood induce debris gets hurricane wind chucked back into your house are you then covered?

Best case is for nothing. It doesn't develop or misses, of course. And all involved just continue to clean up and deal with the regular afternoon thunder boomers. Fingers crossed.

If this hits anytime over Labor Day weekend, come join me in Vegas.

I hate Vegas
Was going to Green Bay that weekend. But not now. #thanksobama

Well for starters, all of that shite that we all helped to move out and tear out isn't going to be out by the road anymore. Jesus what a fricking mess that would make. I don't even like thinking about it.
Ive heard people bring this up but it seems very, very unlikely. To get debris moving winds as far inland as BR and the surrounding areas would require a right side of the eye sniper shot from a cat 4/5. It would have to be so precise in the landfall and path that the odds are astronomical.

That's a legitimate question.

According to the Euro, we'll have a tropical depression hitting the gulf Sunday afternoon. Where it goes from there is unknown but I'd bet it will grow quickly to a hurricane/TS.

Yeah, like a 1,000 year flood.

You're covered. Flood is considering rising water. I asked my insurance guy about this.. Said what if hurricane causes the flood.. He said rising water is all under flood. Water from roof damage from hurricane is homeowners. Debris is homeowners. I only know this because I became very familiar with my
Policy over the last year. Moral of this: pleAse don't ever go searching for a "deal" on homeowners insurance. My neighbor did and got screwedddddd. You get what you pay for.

You underestimate Mother Nature..... Not smart

You figure anything out with your construction?

You can't be serious. Gustav was a category 2 storm at landfall and the Baton Rouge airport clocked 91 mph winds.
Link to NWS summary of Gustav.

Yeah kind of. He made it sound like he was absorbing the costs of additional work, but he was much more concerned that the costs of our construction was going to go up due to the demands for subs and resources here. For instance, his top two cabinet guys both flooded alongside their workshops. It's been one giant bitch slap after the next. If building wasn't stressful enough, let's add epic flooding and a possible hurricane in the mix. ETA: and we are gonna go up another foot on the foundation and it's got my neighbor's in a tizzy.

I feel like tonight is make or break for it. It will move into a better environment for development, but could end up plowing into Cuba and dying.

Yeah, not sure where he's getting that information. We're not that far from the coast

A good strong wind from an afternoon thunderstorm could pick up some of that debris, let alone a nice tropical storm. They need to expedite that debris clean up in Denham otherwise they're in for way more abuse.
So sad.
So sad.

I actually put my build on hold until it slows down. Luckily I hadn't started yet

BR is 113 miles from the coast

For realz?

I am dead serious. I'll play the odds of a 1000 year flood and then a right of the eye Cat 4/5 strike on BR three weeks later any day.
The odds are astronomical. They really are.
