Dude would've been 66 if he made it to the COVID19 era and Austin would be a much different town if he was still mayor.

Gone too soon.

Guy obviously was uber talented, but always admired his outlandish outfits. Some of them gave Elton John a run for his money.

The only song I know of him playing a 12 string Ovation and is quite simply one of his best songs, LIfe By The Drop.

He’s one of the few I would pay good money to see.

Absolute savage. He had such incredible control over the instrument and was one of the GOAT at expressing emotion with an instrument. He could talk with it and you felt pain and suffering in the bends, vibrato, and aggression. Being a guitar player and gear nut you always go down the rabbit hole of gear that your favorite artist use to get their tone and he had such a monster tone with the most basic gear.

This is absolutely not true. Those guys were big buds with a guy known as Helicopter Dave who lived out in Vegas. There were plenty of videos of him flying them around. Unfortunately, Dave died a few years back... in a helicopter accident

Damn, time passes so quickly. The guy was a hell of a guitar player and I have several of his CD's that I'll play when in the man cave tossing some darts or working out.

Saw a show about his early life and career recently on cable and he was a prodigy from an early age, playing guitar was his life's passion.

Yeah, gone way too soon.
