Sold my house and walking away with some cash in my pocket, enough for a fixer upper or a damn good start on a small build. We're gonna live in a van down by the river(technically a 3 bed 2 bath camp on the river) and wait for the right place for us. Step two is finishing my BA and MBA in the next two years. I'll have 18 years experience in my field and hopefully no or a very small mortgage on a house that's nothing more than what we need. I'll be 45 and can do whatever I want to do. All the bankers and the turds I've worked for over the last 16 years can enjoy their lives without costing me mine.

Midlife crises cause some people to do irrational shite
Hopefully, you don't make your kids suffer your breakdown

Makes perfect sense.
Do you and the wife have kids that will be living this Spartan lifestyle with you?

And just busting balls, Gee. Happy for you and best of luck with the rest of your plan.

How long do you think it’ll take before you blow through the profits from the sale?

Why are you getting an MBA? Likely not worth the paper it's written on.

Good for you. Dabbled in high level banking a little bit myself over the years - they can frick right off with that pressure.
I went from a full time workhorse to a part time/as needed guy and never felt more powerful as I did when I told them “nah” the first few times. I was (and still do albeit on a smaller scale) cutting lawns on the side and made damn good cash money. So when I realized I was much happier tending to lawns listening to my earbuds and getting to know people in my community, I made the jump.

He’s probably playing the game of “credentialism”.
Until the market adjusts (and it’s only a matter of time) SOME degrees still act as a necessary key to unlock doors.
Everyone is still feeding off of the carcass of the whale known as the university system.

I applaud anyone who makes changes to live within their means.

If you can't handle him at his worst you don't deserve him at his best

After a shitty year at work last year I decided to finish my BA. I'm a year into it and one year left. It's become an enjoyable hobby. I figure if I'm still liking it after I'm done with the BA, the MBA only costs 12k at LSU shreveport. Both degrees will cost me less than 30k, there's really no reason not to if I am enjoying the work.

Yeah if you're 45 and still haven't made it career wise it's not usually the case that attaining degrees will fix the problem.

To have sold a house in Bogalusa is a feat worth celebrating all on its own! Good for you!
