And we are looking into purchasing a generator to run basic appliances as in a TV and a stereo receiver... Any tips on what size and where to purchase it from?

Marine batteries and inverter.

Bolt it all to a dolly. Weld a tv mount to the top of the dolly

get an inverter (generator)from the tool store at Tanger the guy running the store will send one out for $400 CASH (we have the Subaru brand, been doing great for 3 years and just as quiet as the Honda)
2000 should do it, unless you're running some big time stuff.
We run 2 powered speakers, (2) tv, and lights.

Started one up last year. Bought a cheap generator. Like a pretty small one. I have like a 28 inch Tv that I can just carry under my arm. Hook it up to my laptop and set up by the pentagon so I can use the wifi. Good set up. No complaints.

gotta figure out what you want to run with the generator before you know what size to get. basically, you have to total up the power usage of all devices (watts) and then buy a generator that can handle the wattage.

for reference, I have a small (26") tv and am able to run it all day with a single marine battery and inverter. if you want satellite or a larger tv, you will need a generator.

Oh good Lawd, just find this Honda 2 KW genny and do your neighbors' ears a favor. Might want to also invest in a bicycle lock (chain), as they tend to grow legs if you are not watching.
