regardless of grades or exit exam results.

SB 172: High school seniors will receive their diploma whether or not they pass or even take an exit exam; the law also applies retroactively to students who have graduated since 2004;

If this info is bad, PLEASE let me know because there is nothing i'd like to believe more than that any state would be stupid enough to think that this is a good idea. A high School diploma is worthless enough as it is. Now they are literally turning into a participation trophy.

This is not what we meant when we said "success is what you make it".

Really doesn't matter. Its not like it will get undeserving kids into a great college. I mean you aren't getting into Cal if you can't pass the exit exam

As with almost everything on that damn website, only partially true (if at all). California was one of 26 states who required a high school exit exam. They have since eliminated that requirement, and are retroactively awarding diplomas to those who met all other graduation requirements.

With that being said-it's pathetic that anybody can't pass a test with sixth grade level math questions.

The bill suspends standardized testing, and perhaps that isn't a bad thing. They would still need to pass all classes.
I don't actually see the problem. Give more time to teach a class instead of prepping for an all-encompassing multiple choice exam.

Not a bad thing at all. Some of those tests are so poor and wicked in design that they test more of an ability to take that particular test than general skills that a high school student should know.
