Spinoff: Do you stop at every railroad crossing that doesn't have swinging arms?

As in stop and look? I drive a Suburban and you really don't hear much from outside with the windows up and doors closed.

I was confused for a second there..

Yes. I know 2 people killed by not doing that. You'd be an idiot not to.

If I can see several hundred feet to the sides to see if a train is coming I won't. If there are a few trees blocking my view I miiiiiight stop

I can't recall ever seeing one without arms but I would definitely stop.

Nope, just judge my speed by the distance I can see down the tracks..usually the crossings have flashing lights if there are no arms though

If I can see down the tracks then no. If I can't see down the tracks I roll down my windows, turn off the radio and listen.

No. Never

I don't live in poor areas that can't afford crossing signals.

Maybe not completely stop, but I slow down at ones where I can't clearly see down the tracks while approaching, even if they have lights. Most of the shitty crossings around here are so bumpy that I'd probably need to slow down anyway.
On another note, this video was recently shared on my FB page: LINK
If I'm reading the time stamp correctly, the cross bars came down really quickly trapping the truck between them, then the train came by 20 seconds later. Is that normal speed for those kinds of things?

Yes.
I once came across this crossing and was about 20 feet away, none of the lights were flashing and a train roared through from the left. Didn't blow the air horn.

yes. and if I can, I figure out a way not to have to do it again (on a given route)
and I try to take it into account that a train can be moving at 90 MPH.
