As of today....

Punishment for folks who feign membership in the U.S. Military will see heightened punishment. SB 835 raised the act of impersonating military personnel from a class C to a class B misdemeanor, making it a jailable offense.

Awesome. If there was one thing Texas needed, it was another reason to throw people in jail

So stupid. Let's further criminalize mental illness. Has worked well so far.

Bad leaders in uniform are doing more harm than weirdos pretending to be military. Heck, the Commandant of the Marine Corps was obstructing justice and practicing unlawful command influence and not a single thing happened to him. But yes, let's drop the hammer on people playing make-believe about military stuff. They are severely affecting our lives.

What's especially disturbing to me is that chains of command in the military have done more to steal or otherwise modify valor than these pretenders could ever do. There numerous instances of awards getting downgraded or denied (or magically lost) because someone isn't popular with the command - and there are even more instances where awards get submitted because someone is liked or they get inflated.

When I was in Iraq some commanders had a contest to see how many Bronze Stars they could get downgraded. But again, it's these fools in pretend land we should be worrying about.
