Worked in retail for many years before getting the job I've been in for almost three years (house appraisals). Never been fired but I've done some stupid shite that probably warranted a firing, but was given some slack because I was always a good reliable worker.

I hope it never happens, but I'm the type that would own up to my screw ups and probably know it was coming. Now getting laid off would be a total mind frick!

It is a lot of hard work and a lot of blood sweat and tears but yeah for almost 40 years.

And yes getting laid off does kind of mess with your head. Unemployment helps but still sucks arse

Twice, both low paying jobs. One was a toy store I briefly worked at in high school. I wasn't outgoing enough for the job and was relieved when I got the call because I dreaded going to work.

2nd was Middleton library at lsu.. I missed a couple shifts and got an email saying I gone. Replied that I understand and that was that. Ce la vie

I got laid off during the housing crash. It was ok since I was in my last semester of my bachelors. Then
I screwed up getting unemployment by telling them I wouldn't quit school to take work. I should have lied but I found another job so quickly I probably wouldn't have collected anything.

I was angry, since the fire able offense occurred when I wasn't there and under someone else's watch.

But then a week later my brother died and shite just stopped mattering.

Never been fired. I don't understand how some people care so little that they repeatedly get fired from jobs.

Got fired after my first day. Two brothers owned a company. One hired me and the other didn't know about it and didn't want to hire anyone. My thought was, "Wtf?"

I've never been fired, denied a job I've applied for, been turned down by a girl, had a girl break up with me, or have a shot blocked. I tell my wife all the time that I could go on a killing rampage if she ever left me for all I know because I've never experienced rejection.

Been very blessed in that I've left every job so far on my own terms. I feel like I've been a pretty good value to my employers.

I got let go from my position a sales manager for a Fortune 500 company in January of this year after relocating from Nashville to Jackson TN to take the job 2 years prior. I was completely floored by it. I was hitting all the sales numbers I was supposed to and had never even had any kind of tough conversation or any real criticism from my director before just being let go out of nowhere. They gave me 6 weeks of severance pay.

It hit me hard for about 24 hours. Then I put my mind to finding new employment and had a new job about 3 weeks later. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

I don't understand how people who have been fired multiple times continue to get jobs? I guess they don't put fired for the reason for leaving last job question and I guess no one calls references

I wasn't exactly "fired". More like "impeached and then resigned".

I'm not a crook, by the way.
