The rebel model is not offered in a diesel.
It was purpose built as an extreme off road capable truck to compete with the raptor off-road. There are a lot of different reports out that show it actually performs better than the raptor.

OP might be assuming his friend got a Rebel. The 2017 Power Wagons have the same exact front end.

It's theoretically not a Raptor competitor. It directly competes with the Tundra TRD Pro. Basically, it's a a standard off road package dressed up to look "extreme".
And no, if I was shopping this vs Raptor, I'd take a Raptor...
ETA: if you want a Ram that competes with the Raptor, you have to buy a Ram and then purchase the Ram Runner kit and have it installed. Then you have a true pre-runner style Raptor competitor...but it sucks arse as a daily driver, unlike the Raptor.

I guess i might have to tell him. Or should i just let him go fill up at the diesel pump?

He may have gotten a 2500 power wagon with the diesel. Which if he got that at 57k he got a deal.

Who knows, might be a power wagon or he might not be telling me the truth about having the diesel.

If you buy a $60,000 truck from Dodge called Rebel, you most certainly are not a rebel.
Well, an overpriced Dodge called "The Dumbass" would be too obvious....

You just now finding out about this?
Posted on 9/8/16 at 12:59 pm to meauxjeaux2
Now instead of the "General Lee" we have the "TIGRLEE".

Currently have a 2017 Durango GT for a rental. Only has 1500 miles on it but it rattles like crazy. The "leather" seats look cheap AF.
Dodge makes horrible vehicles top to bottom. I don't understand how they are still in business.

he paid right at $57,000.00
4x4 Diesel quad cab.
so add the rest of the fees and it's over $60,000.00
It doesn't COME in diesel.
And that price does not make sense.
I think your friend may have a 2500 Power Wagon, which is a much more capable truck.

No, there aren't any reports of that.
It doesn't even compete with the Raptor. It wasn't designed to. The Raptor is a full tier of capability above the Rebel. I'm not a Ford fanboy and have never owned one, that's just a fact.
The Rebel competes with the GM Z71 suspension package and the Tundra TRD Pro. It's an appearance/shocks/skidplates/wheels&tires package. It doesn't even have locking diffs.
Within the Ram truck family, the Rebel isn't even as capable as the Power Wagon option on the 2500, which has front and rear lockers and electronically detachable sway bar.
