Lawyers for a man with permanent brain damage are suing a driver and Snapchat after they say the speed tracker on the social media platform caused the car crash that injured him.

Christal McGee, of Spalding County, Georgia, was driving a Mercedes Benz at about 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2015, while using a filter on Snapchat that tracks how fast users are moving, alleges the lawsuit, which was filed of behalf of victim Wentworth Maynard earlier this month.

McGee wanted to post an image of herself going fast, so she "pushed the speed of her Mercedes to above 80 miles per hour. McGee then pushed the speed of her Mercedes to above 90 miles per hour. And McGee continued to push the speed of her Mercedes to above 100 miles per hour," according to the lawsuit, filed by attorney Michael Lawson Neff.

So its the fault of the app.

Not the dumb bitch being a stupid dumb bitch.

And of course she snapchats a picture of herself after the wreck.

I don't see how Snapchat's lawyers and executives didn't see this coming with a feature like this. Pretty dumb to open themselves up to this potential in the first place.

This is a long way to say she was going 100 mph. We can safely assume she hit 80 and 90 along the way.

Good point and I agree. It's also like blaming the gun and not the shooter but the point I am making is now they have to spend a lot of money to defend themselves over a feature that can't be a revenue maker for them. That's the thing I don't get.

Paramedic should have swatted her phone out of her hand the moment he saw her taking "I nearly died" selfies

The speedometer tells you how fast you're going. Silly broads.

How is this any different than texting? You think it's irresponsible that cell phone companies make phones with texting features? Cause texting causes a thousand times more accidents and deaths on the road than snapchat.

How is this similar to texting?

The Snapchat app rewards you with points for Snapchatting your speed with the speed feature.
