Not to disrupt this riveting thread, but the explanation for that is that nearly all (in-movie) modern human computer technology was not developed independently but was based on reverse-engineering the alien computer systems in the crashed Area 51 ships. So while the systems wouldn't be identical, anyone with knowledge of "earth" computers would be at least moderately familiar with the alien technology.

Maybe a long time ago fleshy biological beings visited earth but I have to believe that if they are visiting they are far more advanced than us and wouldn't actually send bodies but some sort of AI thing
