The guys getting paid to play. 5 man is used exclusively. It's the superior defense. You take away the 5-6/4-3 hole depending on the batter. You have to have a fast CF though and a pitcher that pitches to the defense. The 5 plays a shaded traditional SS. The SS and 2B take away the traditional holes in the IF or very deep depending on what side the 5 is on that particular batter.

Meh, we played that in some tourneys and if you play enough games it kills the OF legs (assuming you're playing with guys who don't get paid to play and work out). In normal softball it's too easy to drop them between outfielders

This is the stupidest thing i've seen when it comes to the "laws of slowpitch." If you were smart, you would understand that softball is a hitters sport and a good team puts the ball in the outfield 9 times out of 10. You would also be amazed at just how many people cannot judge a fly ball. How many times has someone said "I got it, I got it" and then they drop a routine fly ball? So go ahead and put your weak fielders in the outfield. I will use my ability to hit the ball to all parts of the field and continually hit it to the weak outfielder, while your star player sits at 3rd hoping for a ground ball.

We only get to hit one HR per game in my co-ed league. It's a bunch of bullshite. That's my rant
You seem like one of those people that take it way too serious. I go out there and wreck shop but my team is atrocious. I don't complain or yell at anyone. I encourage them and laugh and joke. It is supposed to be fun. You aren't getting a contract for the league for winning games and taking things super serious

Y'all should quit playing a pansy sport where you rest in the dugout half the game. Play a game like soccer where you spend close to an hour sprinting just to reach halftime.

It's not easy to drop between outfielders if they can run. 3 outfielders at any competitive Level is the only way to go to give yourself the best shot. And I agree with JJ27 that CF, pitcher, and SS or middle man have to be on the same page and ur best players on D

Even a high level D class team should be playing a 5 man infield. If not your pitcher is going to get killed and/or your going to give up 20+ runs per game.
There are very few competitive C and above teams that aren't carrying 5 or 6 guys that played college baseball.
I'm obviously talking about teams geared to advancing on a national level and not "beer" teams.
