This thread is exact reason we don't have a fricking tech board.

And there is no way 25% of threads are tech related. That's a dumb statement.

Jesus Christ not again.

In any event, Apple is going to regret winning one of these lawsuits some day when it comes back on them.

Let's hope no one wins so innovation and mimicking and all the shite that is going on now can continue so we can have all kinds of cool shite.

How is copying innovating?

There's only so many ways to lock/unlock a phone using touch.

Copying drives apple to innovate to keep a step ahead. Otherwise they'd just sit on currently technology until their patents expired.

Not to retard up your Samsung bashing, but check out these similarities:

Nokia Phone - looks nothing like a blackberry using BBM

Maytag Refrigerator - no way they didn't copy this design
Image: http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/productImages/6/7/00000122767-MaytagMFI2568BottomFreezerRefrigerator-large.jpeg

Another Nokia - I dunno, is this a rip off Apple or Samsung cause they're the only ones who can make touchscreen smartphones.

and..... a Palm??? Can we travel back in time and sue for patent infringement? No way someone had touchscreen before Apple.

I posted a link on the last page.

Google has decided to protect it's partners by going after Apple once and for all.

They are suing to stop the sale of all iProducts that connect to the net through wifi thanks to a patent owned by Motorola.

I'm all for competition.

Samsung doesn't foster that. They let others spend millions of dollars to innovate and all that comes with it, see what hits and then they rip it off.

First, what the guy said below me.

And secondly, this is a bunch of cry baby bull shite.

I don't blame the companies. Companies don't want a capitalist system once they have the market cornered. They want to create barriers of entry to keep competitors out so they can remain hugely profitable. The government's role is to make sure to ignore them and keep the Wild West alive, keeping the market as free of regulation as possible, and therefore, giving consumers the best.

I honestly don't give a shite. It seems to hurt neither APple nor Samsung, nor the consumer.

TWO DOORS ON A FRIDGE? NO WAY!!!!!!!

So Apple does all the hard work, risk, time and R& D money and the Koreans just sit back and copy all their chit?

How bout forcing Samsung to innovate for a change. That gives everybody more choices and forces Apple to keep innovating to stay ahead.

i don't even know if the shite that was posted in the OP should even qualify as a subject worthy of having this discussion

is the difference in an alarm clock icon and an alarm clock icon without the alarm that noteworthy?

and the "phone" icon isn't apple's icon. that's been used for decades

and why did apple use screen shots of an iphone's home screen and the app drawer of another phone?

Point is they all look like that now after Apple introduced the iPhone. They sure as heck didn;t look that before.

re: Slide from Apple's closing arguments against Samsung.
Asian car manufacturers have been mimicing American and German manufacturers for years.
Go look at a Lexus and a Bangle-era BMW side by side. Know that the BMW was first.

The Chinese just outright copy stuff.

Ya, if they weren't complaining about ultimately stupid shit, I'd be more sympathetic to their plight.

And American car manufacturers have been trying to copy Japan for decades, and kept fricking that up.

you serious?

"copying" creates a baseline standard that all must adhere to. then for each to differentiate, they will have to become more creative to get the next "first"

then the process continues
