interesting. Props to you for having the correct attitude about what others would think is a crutch. To you, it is a good thing.

Box fan. I can't do silence unless I'm hiking.

I used to prefer a tv or radio on when I went to sleep.

Now I'd rather "silence." But I guess that's a misnomer since there's usually some kind of noise happening in the house, whether the dishwasher, fan, washer/dryer, or the wife's poots.

Yes, I like it but a bit of background noise doesn't bother me either.

Same. I could do absolute silence. The problem is that is virtually impossible to achieve.

gotta sleep with the fan on, even when it's cold in the room.

Honestly, I'm no deaf culture/deaf pride loon but if there was no cochlear implant, my mindset would still be the same for the most part and it would still be just something I have to live with.

Thank god that's not reality for me though because I do love and need to hear.

Sometimes I have to have a fan on or open a window to block out the tinnitus that can make falling asleep difficult.

I sleep with a box fan and one of these bad boys....

I've also got the white noise app on my phone as a backup in case I don't have my machine when I travel.

And the best naps I ever had were in the back room of my MawMaws house. It was dark and cool and I'd have the window unit running. Best sleep in the world.

It's easy, Trav. And I have some weird dreams depending what's on.

Always wanted to ask this question -- hope you don't mind.

Do your C-I electronics provide an alternate form of non in-ear microphone input? In other words, can you take an MP3 player, for example, and plug them "straight into your ears"?

I can totally relate with that. I exposed myself to excessively loud music and industrial noise when I was young. I have paid the price for that mistake ever since.

Yes.

I do it with my laptop and netflix occasionally. It's much better than headphones.

Now that I think about it, it sounds like something an A.I. or robot would do.
