Granted, this is happening in California. Go figure.

They call themselves “the unicorns,” and they want to be Cub Scouts.

Six California girls are fighting after they were told by the Boy Scouts of America that they can not join the local boy scout council in Santa Rosa because it is “inappropriate.”

According to an ABC News report, 10-year-old Ella Jacobs tried being a girl scout, but didn’t enjoy it. She would rather tag along with her brother to cub scout events.

The girl’s mother, Danelle Jacobs wanted to find a “better fit” for her daughter.

I blame the parents. Too many stay at home moms with too much time on their hands.

Dude, the gays were always in Boy Scouts, it just wasn't advertised. And each of the summer camps I went to growing up had at least 1 or 2 female staff.

They likely won't want to stay in after they learn what "roughing it" means

I don't see the problem with it. Let them. Maybe what the Girl Scouts do is boring to them......Let them do it, then there is no publicity. Don't let them, and you are CNN and Fox news looking like a misogynist.

There were co-ed Explorer Posts back in the 70s. I believe Sea Scouts were also co-ed.

I don't know WTF Brownies and Girl Scouts do, aside from sell cookies. Only the males in my extended family were/are active in Scouting. But my nephews who are currently Cub Scouts have already been on some relatively strenuous hikes, and their Pack has a couple of camping trips each year. Maybe that appeals to these girls more than whatever the Girl Scouts are doing.

It's not that big of a deal, and more importantly, if it doesn't directly affect your child, why do you even care?
