LOL lafayette was on forbes for consistent growth while the rest of the country was going the opposite way.

Spoke with the guy who put the numbers together this week. All of the drop can be attributed to the oil industry GDP dropping because of gas prices. Every other category is up. In the most recent census Lafayette added 3 parishes to its MSA and they are significantly behind Lafayette in GDP and were more significantly affected by the drop in natural gas prices. Lafayette wouldn't have dropped as much but for the fact that the other parishes in the MSA are less economically diverse. But frankly it hasn't affected our economic strength because our economy was so strong we absorbed the loss.
