Is it worth the money? Anyone actually see some significant savings in their energy bill?

When I'm laying in bed and I'm hot or cold, all i have to do is reach for the ipad and use the app to adjust the temp.

I've read up on them, and I'm considering getting a couple, I know we're just now getting onto the hot months, but do you see a significant difference in your utility bills?

It's extremely easy to use. Convinced my buddy to get one the other day when we were fricking with his shitty Honeywell thermostat and could not get it off of program mode. You should be able to just put the air on whatever you want until you say otherwise and the Nest makes it easy to do that. Highly recommend.

Yes, I love mine. I also installed two of the smoke detectors as well that work in conjunction with the thermostat. Will probably put in a couple more this summer.

I have one. Doesn't really make a difference in a 100 year old house that leaks like a sieve.

Depends on your definition of significant. And if you want to just let it learn your habits automatically or control it manually often. If we leave the house for a trip and I forgot to put it in "away" mode, I can go to the app and quickly put it on. If it's a 1-week trip, I might have saved myself $30. Little things like that and being able to change it while in bed are two huge pluses

I purchased a Honeywell WiFi thermostat for the back half of the house.

I trust Honeywell more than I trust Nest.

How much have your utilities decreased on average?

I installed one about a month ago and I'm very happy with it. Make sure you have updated wired because older houses/systems can be tricky. What kept me away from Nest for about a year was all the bad reviews about Nest phucking up people's A/C systems.

Off-Topic: What settings do y'all run? I found auto-schedule to be wacky. I use a hard schedule right now when I'm at work Mon-Fri and I leave it open to auto-away the rest of the time.

Don't be naive, Will. You can't trust any of them.

For sure. Being able to change it from wherever is a huge +.

It gets off as the seasons change, but updates on its own eventually. We had to completely reset it when we had a kid and my wife started staying at home. Other than that, zero problems.

I have one and have zero complaints with it. And yes, I do see some savings on my bill. Besides, it looks cool as shite and everyone always wants to know wtf is that on the wall.

We get free weekends so I have it set for about 72 at nights. During the day I set it to away and it goes up to about 78 or 79 and then on weekends I have it programmed to automatically go to 68 at 7pm on Friday nights to Monday mornings.

My house was built in 95. I should be good right?
