Just had lunch at the club house called Legacy. Decent food btw. Anyone know the fate of the golf course land? Staff says they don’t know. I’ve heard residential but there is only one access point and Sherwood is already a cluster. Also heard a rumor that DPW was going to build a massive retention pond/lake for floods.

Anyone know?

Proposed subdivision but that was a few years ago. Used to be my course in BR- I miss it.

Residential and retention ponds have both been discussed. Haven't heard of a final outcome.

Someone probably wants to put apartment's back there.

Neighbors are shitty, I wouldn't recommend visiting the area.

Insert ObjWan GIF. That's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

She had some massive knockers. Is she still around? She gave me her cell number on a flight into BTR one time. I didn't call.

Louisiana Watershed Initiative:

6 million dollars
Purchase of about 65 acres of the former Sherwood Forest golf course to prevent redevelopment of the area and to construct a detention basin and overflow structure, providing additional flood storage for the area.

Expected to begin construction in late 2023.

I wish it was purchased and stayed open. My father was a long time member and president and his ashes were spread in the pond on 11th hole. Sucks to know that will be a retention pond or ghetto apartments but I guess its all about the memories anyways.

Couldn’t you kill two birds with one stone.

Lower the fairways and keep the course open during dry weather. It can be dubbed the hilliest course in Baton Rouge, or on rainy days the course with the largest water hazards.

I conducted many, many nighttime incursion operations to collect golf balls from the water hazards during the Desert Storm and following police-action eras.

Im old enough to remember when King Richard Dr was the most exclusive place to live in Baton Rouge. There are some HUGE cribs on that street across from the country club. So sad how that area has ended up
