SEWAGE LEAK INTO BOGUE CHITTO

The spill happened Friday when a levee breach happened at a sewage plant in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Officials said the breach sent approximately 6 million gallons of sewage into the east branch of the Bogue Chitto. Louisiana health officials were notified by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, which resulted in water contact advisories being issued. The state is urging people to avoid swimming or fishing in the river throughout its entire length in Louisiana.
